The Story

The comic that started it all. Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962) marks Doctor Doom's first appearance in Marvel Comics, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Doom takes the Fantastic Four hostage and forces them to travel back in time to retrieve Blackbeard's treasure. This issue introduced one of the greatest villains in comic book history and established the rivalry that would define Marvel for decades.
